“Playing golf to raise money for charity is an amazing way to make a difference in others’ lives. Thanks to the AJGA for creating the State Cup Series and to Banyan Cay for hosting the 2022 Florida Sunshine Cup.
A group of young Florida golfers, ages 11-14, have joined together for the fifth annual Florida Sunshine Cup as part of the State Cup Series sponsored by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). And they are serious about giving back. Miles Russell, and Graden Lomax are hosting this tournament as a way of giving back through the game they love. Collectively, they have won or finished near the top in nearly every major junior golf tournament in the world, including USKids World Championships, IMG World Championships, USKids European Championships, and hundreds of regional, state and local titles.
The tournament playing field will expand to 32 players committed to raising $1,000 each with an overall goal in 2023 of eclipsing $125,000. In the first four years, the Florida Sunshine Cup has raised closed to $300,000 which benefited the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and the AJGA’s Ace Grant Program. This would not have been possible without the support of all the players and their families.
The AJGA’s State Cup Series was created to allow junior golfers to showcase their talents while developing life skills, including charitable giving, leadership, and teamwork.
The Banyan Cay Resort will host the 5th annual Florida Sunshine Cup golf tournament on October 28-29, 2023. The Florida Sunshine Cup players and families give a huge thank you to Rich LeConche, Director of Golf and Operations, Jared Chipley, Head Golf Professional, the resort staff, and its management team for hosting this event. We are grateful for your contribution in helping these young players achieve their charitable goals. We are truly thrilled to be able to play the 5th annual Florida Sunshine Cup at such a fantastic golf destination.
Swinging clubs and raising money for two worthy charities are the goals for these top junior golfers who will play in the Florida Sunshine Cup. The State Cup Series, sponsored by the AJGA, allows junior golfers to showcase their talents while developing life skills, including charitable giving, leadership, and teamwork.
